This is what John said. \"You probably want to hear of some great plan to live a fantastic life in some manner beyond imagination. John was on an airplane a few weeks ago flying back to Massachusetts to visit his daughter and grandchildren. The movie \"The Bucket List\" played on the flight. The movie is about a wish list of \"to-dos\" before the main characters die. As John is going to be sixty-five at the end of August he thought about what would be on his list. At the top of the list is to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. Now, here is the problem. One daughter and grandchildren live in Massachusetts and the other daughter lives north of Los Angeles. So if he sells his life as an artist in Los Angeles it will be painting in Massachusetts in the summer months and California in the winter.
So the \"why\" is more about the person buying the \"life of an artist\" and not about John. It is about someone else changing his or her life and what they can do to make it happen for themselves. The biggest challenge anyone can take is to live the life of their dreams. John says he already met that challenge seventeen years ago and becoming an artist was its outcome.
